Mikao Usui
I began my healing journey many years ago, initially qualifying as a spiritual healer with the National Federation of Spiritual Healers. From there I was drawn to Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki and in 2011 I completed my journey to Master level. Since then I have trained many students who have gone on to become practitioners and teachers in their own right.
My classes are small by design, a maximum of eight students, so that everyone receives as much personal attention as possible. This is not a conveyor belt. It is a genuine learning environment where you leave with both the qualification and the confidence to use it.
Whether you are at the beginning of your Reiki journey, looking to deepen an existing practice, or ready to take your training to Master level, there is a path here for you.
What Is Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki?
Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki is a Japanese energy healing system rediscovered by Mikao Usui in the 1800s, which is why this traditional style carries his name. It is the original form of Reiki and the foundation from which most modern Reiki styles have developed.
It is non-invasive, gentle and remarkably versatile. Reiki can be used on yourself, on family and friends, on children from birth to the elderly, on animals, and even on situations, events and places. It has no religious leanings and no dogma. Whatever your background, belief system or previous experience, Reiki will work for you.
The tradition has been passed from Master to student in an unbroken lineage since the 1800s. When you train with me, you receive not just the attunement and the knowledge but the lineage itself.
Why Study Usui Reiki?
There are as many reasons to learn Reiki as there are people who study it. Here are the most common ones.
For your own healing and wellbeing. The daily self-Reiki practice is one of the most consistent and powerful tools I know for maintaining physical, emotional and energetic health. The 21 day cleanse that follows your Level I attunement begins a process of clearing and recalibration that many people describe as genuinely life-changing. When you can place your hands on yourself and channel healing energy at any moment, you have a resource that is always available and always relevant.
For the people around you. Friends, partners, family members, children, animals. Having Reiki means having something real and effective to offer the people you love when they need support.
For your spiritual and personal development. Reiki deepens your sensitivity, your intuition and your connection to energy. Many people find that their Reiki practice opens doors to other aspects of their spiritual development in ways they did not anticipate.
As a professional modality. Once qualified to Level II, you can obtain insurance and begin seeing paying clients. Reiki is a respected, well-established therapy that works beautifully alongside many other healing and holistic practices. For therapists, coaches and complementary practitioners of any kind, it adds a powerful energetic dimension to the work you already do.
Which Level Is Right For Me?
Everyone starts at Level I regardless of experience. Each level builds on the last and cannot be skipped.
Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Level I — Shoden
Level I is where the journey begins. You receive your attunement, which opens and connects you to the Reiki energy, and you learn how to work with it practically on yourself and others. This is a full one-day workshop and by the end of it you will be able to go home and begin using Reiki immediately.
At Level I you can practice Reiki freely on yourself, your family, your friends and your animals. This level is not a professional qualification and does not allow you to charge for treatments or obtain insurance, but as a personal healing and development practice it is complete in itself and deeply valuable.
There is no set timescale between Level I and Level II. The journey is yours and the pace is your own.

Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Level II — Okuden
Level II deepens everything. You receive your second attunement, which raises your connection to the Reiki energy, and you are given the Reiki symbols to use in your healing sessions. The symbols make the healing more powerful and allow you to work with Reiki in more specific and targeted ways, including distant healing and working with mental and emotional patterns.
At Level II you become a qualified Reiki Practitioner. You can obtain insurance and begin seeing paying clients. This is the professional qualification level and the point at which many people begin to build a healing practice.
If you know from the outset that you want to reach Level II, booking both Level I and Level II together at the same time gives you a saving on the combined price. You can attend whichever upcoming dates suit you. Just get in touch to arrange.

Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Level III — Shinpiden (Master and Teacher)
Level III is the Master level. You work with higher level symbols, deepen your energy knowledge and if you choose to teach, you learn how to attune your own students and run your own Reiki workshops.
You do not have to teach in order to take Level III. The Master attunement is a profound personal development step in its own right and many people take it simply to hold the full lineage and deepen their own practice. I did not plan to teach when I completed this level myself, but I am glad I held all the certificates regardless.
Level III is a two-day course.
